4Minute (포미닛) debuted in June 2009 under Cube Entertainment with a punchy, hook-forward sound that put them immediately in conversation with the dominant girl group acts of the era. Launched around HyunA—already known from the Wonder Girls—the group built a reputation for high-energy performances and a more assertive visual identity than many of their contemporaries.
Tracks like Hot Issue, Mirror Mirror, and Volume Up each staked out slightly different stylistic territory while maintaining the group's core aesthetic: high-impact pop with an attitude-forward presentation that never softened at the edges. HyunA's parallel solo career created a dual identity that benefited both the member and the group, generating visibility that kept 4Minute in the conversation across their seven-year run.
4Minute disbanded in June 2016. In the K-Pop Atlas graph, their position at Cube Entertainment places them alongside BEAST (Highlight) and BTOB, reflecting a label approach that valued distinct sonic identities across its roster rather than a single house sound.
